What’s the Difference between Thermoplastic and Cold Paint Line Striping for Pavements?

Traffic marking is one the most common traffic facilities.Traffic facilities for marking are mainly divided into: Thermoplastic marking, Normal temperature cold paint marking, colored anti-slip marking, vibrated anti-slip marking and preformed marking.

Thermoplastic marking is currently the most widely used striping way on traffic marking on roads. It features short construction time, high abrasion resistance,and low prices.

Thermoplastic marking is mainly used for the road surface, suffered by the sun and the rain, the snow and ice,and damaged by the quantities of vehicle, so it requires lines with high performance.

Firstly,it requires short drying time and easy operation to reduce traffic interference.Secondly,it requires strong reflecting effects and bright colors so that the lines have good visibility day and night; Thirdly, the lines must have good anti-slip and high abrasion resistance to ensure traffic safety and service life.

While cold paint marking are mainly applicated to factory district road marking, factory parking lot,underground garage crossing, school area road marking, living area marking and other construction projects.

Cold paint marking (room temperature) adopts special road cold paint, manual spraying, uniform thickness and clear color. Cold marking work are generally for parking spaces, prohibition area of yellow line, channel line, guide strip, guide arrow and so on.

The following are the process of thermoplastic striping work:

1.Reflective thermoplastic marking work use primer mixing with glass beads, petroleum resin glass beads paint.

2.Heat the paint with the Pre-heater,after melting the temperature should be controlled at 180 to 220 degrees, and stir for about 10 minutes before striping work.

3.Mark the position and measure the data, referring to the the location and graphics on the design drawing,and then mark the area with the paint.

4.After the primer drying up, stripe paints with reflective glass beads to increase the night identification, the marking thickness at 150mm.
